Nick Moore has worked in the landscape industry since 1973 spending the first six years in the landscape material supply business. He graduated from Western State college with a degree in business
administration and started his own landscape company in 1979.
Nick had three goals when he started his business:
- Learn to construct the highest quality landscaping (pursue excellence).
- Learn how to construct it efficiently.
- Learn how to be profitable while remaining competitive.
Nick completes all the administrative functions including design, estimating, contracting and project management.
The Project Supervisors
The Landscape Company currently has three project supervisors. Levi Gutierrez, Nathan Bielz and Daniel Huesca who have a combined experience of over 40 years. Their objective is
straightforward. Efficiently provide a superior quality project, on time and on budget.
Our experience working for large developers, general contractors and government entities is that there is an adverse correlation between the size of the entity, its efficiency and quality. We
have applied this experience to our business model and we keep it very simple. Stay small, pursue and produce excellence , work efficiently and keep overhead expenses at a minimum so that we can
offer superior services at a reasonable price. We have completed 35 acre projects as large as $3,000,000.00 and front yard renovations for $2,500.00. Our quality, efficiency and
competitive pricing have remained the same. We employ trained, experienced supervisors, small crews with the right equipment. We settle for nothing less than excellence, efficiency, competitive
advantage and profitability.
In our early years we imported thousands of trees and shrubs each year from California, the Pacific Northwest, and other humid environments. The mortality rates on these plants was higher than we
could accept so in 1985 we began growing our own trees right here in Colorado. We lose less than 2% of the plants we grow. This results in excellence, efficiency, competitive advantage, and
We have developed long term, valuable relationships with the major landscape material suppliers in Colorado. With increased fuel prices, delivery costs have a major impact on the
costs of materials to a project. Providing quality designs utilizing materials available locally is a key to cost effective projects. The construction industry is infamous for slow pay and past due
accounts receivable. We pay our employees weekly and our suppliers on time. We often pay our suppliers C.O.D. We get preferential pricing and deliveries. This results in excellence, efficiency,
competitive advantage, and profitability.
As a prospective customer you may be thinking “ why does The Landscape Company stress profitability on their web site.” I’ll answer that with another question. Do you really want to contract with
a business that is losing money? What incentive does a company have to show up and work hard to provide a quality product if they are losing money? I want all my suppliers and subcontractors to be
paid promptly and to make money. As a result they prefer to do business with me and … you guessed it, that results in excellence, efficiency, competitive advantage, and
